Summary of this Book...
The nightmare Imbrie was turned into a day mare many years ago, and given a position of honor for her efforts in defeating the evil Horseman. Now she's starting to yearn for greener pastures, and sets off to find them.
On the other side of Xanth, a lone fawn learns of his neighboring tree's dilemma. It has lost its fawn and needs a new spirit so that it does not dwindle away and become mundane.
Together these to search the length and breadth of not only Xanth, but the moons that circle the Princess Ida's head, and in the end they find a rather unique answer.
This type of Book is good for...
Those who aren't offended by puns, and who have an enjoyment of the odd and unusual. Also, you shouldn't mind a little romance.
I especially liked...
Mare Imbrie has always been a favorite of my chars in Xanth. I found the ending of this book emensly satisfying.
I didn't like...
There really wasn't anything I didn't like.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
daydream about the differant places. I've always wanted to go to Xanth.
This Book made me feel...
Warm and fuzzy all over.
The author of this Book...
Piers Anthony has actually gotten better at writing over the years. I have read almost every Xanth novel, and this one is by far my favorite.
I recommend this Book because...
it's a wonderful book of entertainment and it will bring smiles and happy thoughts for a long time.
Further Comments...
While there is an underlying romantic twist to this book, it is mostly adventure as Faun and Imbrie wander the worlds, so you won't have to worry about all that mushy stuff. However, on first reading a Xanth novel most people have one of two reactions. They either love it or hate it. The puns are not watered down, they are the life and flavor of Xanth and work perfectly for those who enjoy that sort of humar. It's a short read, so you won't have long to figure out if you enjoy it.
