Six boxes have arrived at the home of Channing Manheim, Hollywood's "most dazzling star", and it is up to his security chief Ethan Truman to decipher their intent before time runs out. Along the way, Ethan dies twice, is assisted by his dead best-friend, and basically suffers all sorts of crazy things that make him question his sanity while he tries to prevent anything from happening to his employer. In the meantime, Manheim's son Aelfric (poor child, what a name!) is recieving odd visits of his own.

a night you don't plan to get any sleep, because you will be up all night wondering what will happen next. If you like Koontz, King, or tension/suspense, this is for you.

The twist at the end. I assumed it would be something completely different. Koontz is great with those "suprise endings".

The way he namedropped. For some reason, reading about Tom Cruise, Barbara Streisand, and Sandra Bullock, even just casually mentioned, got on my nerves. Also, some of his comments - oblique references to 9/11 - made it obvious this was a newer book.

Read it again so I could see what I missed due to the twist.

Kind of jittery, but I'm not rich or famous, so not too bad.

is fantastic. I love Dean Koontz, and have read almost everything he has written. My personal favorites are "Watchers" and "Lightning". He is very very talented, and not quite as explicit/profane as Stephen King.

It was fantastic. A great read, it kept me moving the whole way through.

If you like your horror extra bloody, I don't recommend this book.
If you don't like to be scared, I don't recommend this book.
