Summary of this DVD... | ||
Jim (Cillian Murphy), a bike messenger who was the victim of an on the job accident, awakens from a coma only to find the hospital and the rest of London deserted. He wanders around for a stretch trying to find someone, anyone. As he searches, he reads newspapers and public posters detailing an event of apocalyptic proportions. Upon entering a church, he finds a mass amount of dead bodies and a priest who has been reduced to an animlistic state. He beats the man back and runs from the church, pursued by more animalistic humans. He is rescued by two people named Mark (David Huntley) and Selena {Naomi Harris). They inform him of the events of the last 28 days. A virus called R.A.G.E has left the world in ruins and a good portion of the population dead. Those that are infected by the virus become primal, feral killers with only one thing in mind. Feeding. With the help of Selena, Frank (Brendan Gleeson) and his daughter, Hannah (Megan Burns), he strikes out for Manchester where a radio signal is being broadcasted, claiming that soldiers are waiting to recieve survivors. Once there, they are taken in by the soldiers led by Major Henry West (Christopher Eccleston). But West and his men are not the God-sends that Jim and his friends thought they were. It will take courage and strength for them to hold on to their humanity and survive long enough to begin rebuilding.
This type of DVD is good for...
Anyone who likes a good scare.
I especially liked... | ||
Just about everything. This is such a brilliantly acted and well put together film.
I didn't like... | ||
There was very graphic violence throughout. I don't think it was uneccesary, though. There has to be a lot of violence to illustrate how out of control the world has become. It just didn't have to be so graphic.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
I rented it, so I wanted to go out and buy it afterword.
This DVD made me feel...
There was a good message in the whole thing. Sometimes you must become inhuman to maintain your sense of humanity. And even when things are at their worst, you can always find someone to depend on.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
The cast was excellent. Cillian Murphy was excellent in the role of Jim. Brendan Gleeson and Naomi Harris were also quite good. The one to watch, though, is Christopher Eccleston. He's always impressive no matter what he's in. Can't say enough good things about him.
I recommend this DVD because...
Like I said, it's an excellent movie.
I don't recommend this DVD because...
Some folks will object to the graphic violence and disturbing themes.
Further Comments... | ||
If you can see past blood and guts, watch this film. I'm surprised there wasn't a bigger buzz about it when it hit theaters some months ago. The only reason I didn't see it in the theater was because no one wanted to go with me because of the content. But me, I like to think and I like to be scared. I'm glad I finally got to check this one out.
