Summary of this Book...
This book is based out of an incident that occured in 1969. A teacher was experimenting with his class in their studies of WWII. But, his experiment, although it is good in theory, may turn out to be bad. Hey, communism was great in theory, wasn't it?
This type of Book is good for...
Explaining social behavior in a middle or high school class.
I especially liked... | ||
The way the book moved along. The pace was very good, and it kept me wanting to read. It's definitely a quick read, and I owe that to the length of the book, the pace, and the great story.
I didn't like... | ||
I was kind of disappointed in the ending. It was very soft, I guess, and it just didn't seem right. It ended too quickly, and the ending wasn't as dramatic as it is built up to be.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read more about WWII, and the Nazi influence on Germany.
This Book made me feel...
Sad for our world. | ||
The author of this Book...
Is used to writing for elementary schoolers. This book definitely reflects that, which is definitely a "demotion" from Twain, Lee, and Salinger. The story was great, but I could have done without the fifth-grade reading level.
I recommend this Book because...
It teaches us a good lesson about social behavior, and also shows us how Germany became so absorbed into Nazism. Scary to think about, but entirely true.
I don't recommend this Book because...
The ending might disappoint some.
Further Comments... | ||
This is a quick read with a great lesson, and it incorperates things we can relate to. The ending may not be terrific, but it still has merit, and the story is definitely worth reading.
