Summary of this Book...
Assassin's Apprentice is the first of a great trilogy. The book is written in first person, following the life of Fitz Civalry Farseer, a royal bastard, someone born the wrong side of the sheets. His father, Prince Chivalry, was King in Waiting, until he realised he had an ilegitimate son, and so abdicated, later to be killed by a horse. The current King, King Shrewd, decided to use Fitz to his advantage. He was to be trained by Shrewd's older brother, a old pock scarred man called Chade. Fitz was to be trained to become a Royal Assassin, someone to carry out silent deeds. Fitz has the Skill, a power that runs in the Farseer linage, but also has the abominable Wit, which is looked upon as a thing punishable by death.
This type of Book is good for...
People who enjoy first person accounts, and like a fantasy, yet almost real life stories.
I especially liked... | ||
The idea of a bastard being trained to become an assassin in secret.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Become an assassin immediatly. I know it isnt a good thing to do, but this book made it seem fun somehow.
This Book made me feel...
Wowed that such a book as good as this is in print.
The author of this Book...
Robin Hobb has also written a trilogy of books set around the same place called The Liveship Traders. She has also written two books in another trilogy carrying on from the Farseer trilogy. These set of books are called the Tawney Man (i think!!!) and the last one is coming out later in the year.
I recommend this Book because...
Its just brilliantly written, and portrays Fitz as an excellent character.
Further Comments... | ||
Each book in both trilogys have quite a number of pages in them, ranging from 600 pages to roughly 900. But dont be put off by the length of the book, as each is as good as the last, if not better. A definate must read.
