Summary of this CDs & Vinyl...
With the release of Cry Faith Hill leaves her country roots behind and steps fully into the realm of pop/rock and R&B.
I especially liked... | ||
"Cry" "When the Lights Go Down" "If This is the End" "This is Me".
I didn't like... | ||
I have heard that Faith has long been haunted by demons of her past; among them her marriage to Dan Hill. If that is true, I believe this CD is her attempt to purge those demons. Unfortunately, in many cases, the purging process is carried out in a rather heavy-handed manner; the title track being a perfect example. This CD is a far cry (no pun intended) from her prior release, Breathe.
When I finished n/a this CDs & Vinyl I wanted to...
Put it away and never listen to it again. It has taken me a very long time to come to appreciate the CD and the songs it contains.
I recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
It is Faith Hill. While I don't care for a lot of the songs, I still enjoy listening to this lady sing.
I don't recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
If you enjoyed Faith's earlier, country-oriented work don't waste your time with this CD. Chances are, you're not going to like it.
Further Comments... | ||
I discovered Faith Hill while looking for an alternative to Shania Twain. The first CD I picked up was Breath. I was so impressed I quickly picked up her other, more country-oriented CDs. I enjoyed them all. I've never been much into country music. My parents pretty much shoved it down my throat while growing up. (To this day I can't stand Conway Twitty or Porter Wagner.) But I can appreciate a great female vocalist and Faith Hill is, imho, one of the best. I look forward to her next CD. Hopefully, it will be an improvement over Cry.
