Summary of this Book...
Here is the second book of Tolkien's excellent trilogy of The Lord of The Rings. Where book one describes the first part of Frodo's journey, where he travels with eight other companions known as the Fellowship of the Ring, in The Two Towers he must travel with only one companion, his faithful friend Sam.
I especially liked...
The relationship between Sam and Frodo makes the story come alive and seem more real to the reader. One of the topics common in all of Tolkien's books is that of friendship--most of his heroes have at least one good friend who they would die for, and sometimes they do. The best of them all, however, is the friendship of Sam and Frodo.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
The end of this book is so exciting I don't recommend it for those with heart trouble. The moment I finished this book I told my sister, who was way across the room beside the table where I had the third book, "Quick, throw me the book! Throw me the book!" She grabbed it and threw it to me as fast as she could, and I tore it open to the first page--and shut it again, when I discovered that Tolkien doesn't continue the exciting part for half of the third book.
The author of this Book...
Tolkien is a genius. Not just anybody can invent a world such as Middle-Earth and make it so believable, with such a complete history and even languages for its peoples!
I recommend this Book because...
Please note that for all of Tolkien's books I have given a 5 for everything, including usefulness. Maybe you wonder what Tolkien's books, being fantasy, are useful for. Let me tell you why: I believe that his books are a lesson in writing, particularly if you're interested in writing fantasy. But, as I've said before, please be careful to be as original as Tolkien was, don't just try to create a Middle-Earth of your own.
Further Comments...
The movie The Two Towers is even better than the first, in case you haven't seen it yet! (It comes out August 26th, and the third movie comes out in December)
