Summary of this Book...
"Roverandum" is the tale of a dog named "Rover" who has an unlucky run-in with a wizard and gets turned into a toy dog. He goes to another wizard to ask for help, and is sent on a long journey--to the moon, under the sea, then home again. This book is definitely Tolkien's most kid-friendly book. No scary orcs or bloody battles here, just a scared puppy who wants to go home.
I especially liked... | ||
The fact that Tolkien wrote it for his son, Michael Tolkien, when the boy lost a favorite toy (a dog) at the beach during a family vacation. But even here, in a story that supposedly has nothing to do with Middle-Earth, there are little things referring back to the world that dominated Tolkien's writing.
This Book made me feel...
I was very touched by Tolkien's amazing ability in writing. This book just demonstrates furthur his amazing talents, as he writes of a dog's adventures in such a way that made it fascinating to read.
The author of this Book...
Tolkien never ceases to amaze me with his thoroughness in his writing!
I recommend this Book because...
I reccommend this book for all Tolkien fans who want to start their children on a bit of "lighter" Tolkien when they're young.
