Summary of this Book...
a young woman struggling to be a writer. However, she ends up being a waitress for much longer than she plans because of an unplanned pregnancy and other issues in her life. This book provides a seldom seen glance into the behind-the-scenes craziness of restaurant work. It is basically a coming of age story, and is based on the author's real life. What makes it different from every other coming of age story out there is that it is told from an honest, refreshing point of view. Because the story is so true to life, there are no easy solutions to hard problems in this book.
I especially liked...
the little details about her experience waiting. If you have ever worked in a restaurant (as I have), the whole time you'll be like "Oh my God! I could've written this book!" It really shows how common the experience of the Waitress is. And if you haven't had any waitressing experience, it will provide you with an appreciation to that harried women who seems to toss your plate on the table and run away, huffing and puffing hysterically.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
write my own memoir! But I also wanted to get a job waitressing again!!
This Book made me feel...
motivated to write.
I recommend this Book because...
it is very well-written. Ginsberg definitely has her own style, and I like it. The book flows; I wasn't able to put it down.
Further Comments...
This book is pretty fantastic. If it wasn't, I probably wouldn't have bothered reviewing it. Its just cool. It is so real, but somehow laid back at the same time. I highly recommend this book to any reader.
