Two convicts in a cell who talk about their life outside prison. One fo them is gay, the other is a political prisoner.

it when one of the prisoners began narrating movies he had seen before. I found that more interesting than the main story itself. I also liked it when he started daydreaming, mixing elements from both his imagnation and the movies' plots.

I also like how the author used only dialogues. Though it was a little confusing at times, it made me feel as if IO was in a dark cell with the characters, hearing only their voices but not really seeing them.

The ending. I just was not ready for an ending like that.

Read it again.

A bit sad about the ending.

was obviously influenced by what was going on around his country when he wrote this book. He's avant-garde and is not afraid to try out new styles in writing.

It has a realistic take on same sex love. It's also a poignant and compelling story about love and life minus a mushy plot.

There is more talk and thoughts and less action; if you don't like reading plays, just watch the movie version of this book (I'm not sure if it's still the same story though).
