Summary of this Book...
A woman's journey toward self-discovery.

Julie Chimes, an English business woman, is forced into a bewildering world of self-discovery when she is savagely attacked in her own home by an unstable woman. Although reading about the attack is very disturbing, it is also tinged with an extreme self-awareness that goes beyond the physical. For while she is being attacked, Julie Chimes is literally going in and out of her body, having multiple near-death experiences. She goes from her spirit laying in the bosom of God and knowing the secrets of the Universe, to going back into her body and into her violent physical reality. She actually survives the experience and tells about it in this book.

There is much background information in this book, explaining much about Chimes herself as well as the turbulent emotional environment in which she grew up. This background information leads up to the attack itself and then the aftermath. While in the hospital recovering, Chimes acquires a wise "inner voice" that helps her on her journey to reclaim her life.

This inner voice gives Chimes guidance as she reavaluates her life and her relationships with her family, friends and boyfriend.

It is one of the most incredible books I have ever read, and Chimes is a supremely talented writer. She brings her story to life vividly, telling her tale with courageousness, grit, and even humor. It is a story that inspires in spite of the violence and injustice, and truly shows the triumph of the human spirit.
I especially liked...
I liked the fact that the author, despite the viciousness of her experience does not seem bitter.
