Summary of this Book...
The quest for the famous Sword of Shannara, the only weapon strong enough to defeat the absolute evil menacing the Races of the Earth; Men, the Dwarves and the Elves. This quest is undertaken by the only person who can wield the Sword, the half elf Shea, accompanied by his half brother, his best friend, and various companions of diverse races that he meets along the way.
I especially liked... | ||
The interaction between the different characters that we come across in the book, as the quest goes deeper and deeper onward.
I didn't like... | ||
the way the author sometimes switched scenes suddenly at crucial moments. IT kept the suspense high but was a bit frustrating.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Immediately look for the other books in the Shannara series to understand the history and the future of Shea's earth.
This Book made me feel...
persuaded that heroic fantasy didn't necessarily have to be all action and fighting to be interesting and on top of it all, that it could written as good literature
The author of this Book...
is Terry Brooks and it was his first attempt at writing. He has gone on to write at least three other books about the Shannara universe.
I recommend this Book because...
Its a good beginner for anyone who has never tried reading heroic/quest fantasy before.
I don't recommend this Book because...
there are some people who can't bear the mention of anything non human. I suggest that these stay away from the genre
