Summary of this Book...
Don't look for philosphy or mind enrichment here. This book is pure fun! Those of you who know me will know that I am a closet Reality TV fan. Give me an episode of "Survivor" or "The Amazing Race" and I'm in Heaven. So imagine if you will... A group of contestants is taken to a remote Caribbean island for a new Reality TV Show. The winner will receive $2,000,000. The show will be broadcast live 24/7 to subscribers on the internet and the entire island is wired with microphones and cameras. The initial broadcast begins and live, watched by millions, every member of the crew succumbs to a mysterious ailment and dies horribly in seconds. A voice comes over the loudspeaker. "I am Control." And the game has just become real. Just like in many of today's shows, each week the public votes for one person to be kicked off the show. Millions of people vote from their home computers. The kicker? The person with the most votes...dies.
I especially liked... | ||
What's not to like? It's a fun take on today's Reality Show culture. This is a blast of a trashy novel.
The author of this Book...
Jim Brown is a broadcast journalist who knows a lot of behind the scenes information on his subject. It adds a touch of realism.
Further Comments... | ||
The author includes a nice little surprise in this book. After the novel are a few pages of secrets from some of the most popular Reality Shows - things kept from the public. For example...did you know that on Big Brother 2 one of the male contestants held a knife to a female contestant's throat and threatened to kill her? He was kicked off the program. For the other secrets, you'll just have to read the book!
