The son of the Duke Atredies, Paul, is thrust into the desert of the planet Arrakis, known to the inhabitants as Dune, a world oppressed by the harsh family Harkonnen, where water is a rare comidity.

Although the movie has many inconsistencies over which I am angered, it is also worth watching, both versions. Although I personally like the newer version by the Sci Fi chanel better.
