Summary of this Book...
King's From Buick 8 is about a strange Buick Roadmaster left in the possession of Western Pennsylvanian State Troopers. The vehicle had this feeling to it that it was just...wrong. The troopers are left to care for the car, keeping it away from the curious eyes of John Q. Public...and explain it to character Ned Wilcox, a teenage boy who's father died in the line of duty a year prior. As the troopers explain the unexplainable mystery that shrouds the odd car, the past unfolds, living and breathing and as concious as the present...and as expectant as the future.
I especially liked... | ||
Personally, I loved the setting of the book, being native of Western Pennsylvania myself, I could practically envision the ficticious town and its inhabitants. I really love how the plot unfolded. It was extremely suspenseful, but at the same time like hearing a story from your parents about the past. King wove an excellent unbelievable tale from believeable characters in a realistic setting. Like hearing a story that you can almost believe from your grandpa.
I didn't like... | ||
In the evolution of fiction, all factors of the plot no longer require explination, as they can be attributed to the mystery of the work. I believe that there is too much left unexplained, and rather than being mysterious and unconclusive, it tends to appear sloppy. I felt that this novel didn't exactly explain certain parts of the plot, but not so much as to ruin the overall effect of the work.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I want to lend this book to everyone I know, so I can discuss its possiblities.
This Book made me feel...
This book made me feel like I was in the novel, searching through all the unexplainable, questioning everything I already think I know, and looking for the things I never thought for which to look.
The author of this Book...
The author of this book is the "king" of suspense and all things macabre. From Buick 8 is one of Stephen King's final books before his upcomming retirement.
I recommend this Book because...
I recommend this book because it is an excellent and unique piece of fiction that starts the conclusion of King's extensive writing career.
