Summary of this Book...
Will Stanton, an 11 year old boy living in England who finds out on his birthday that he is really an Old One. The Old Ones are immortals who protect the world from the evil power known as the Dark. As Will comes into this new "world" as an Old One, he learns to use his powers and finds the six Signs that will help him keep back the growing Dark.
I especially liked... | ||
I like how the story comes together as it goes along, bringing almost forgotten details from the beginning of the story back into play toward the end.
I didn't like... | ||
At first it seemed a little confusing as to what was going on when Will was starting as an Old One. I didn't know where he was at times.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
go out and buy the other books in the series, though I couldn't find them as they are an older set.
The author of this Book...
knows a lot about British culture and geography. She also does an excellent job of creating a well-rounded hero, who is both young and old at the same time, and reluctantly forced into his "position." The story may seem a little cliche in that the hero finds out he is more than who he expects, but the way Cooper goes about making the character two separate entities in one makes it the idea more fulfilling.
