This book is about a slave, a woman whose spirit and will is stronger then most men. Brynn of Falkhaar was taken and forced into marriage by Delmas. A despicable commoner whose only concern is the secret she has kept locked within her, despite his many attempts to force it from her.

But when a war threatens to tear their home apart, her lord and master trades her to a devilishly handsome Norwegian warrior named Gage Dumont to heal the warriors dying friend, inexchanged for his freedom. No trusting of this strange Brynn fights hard to ignore the growing bond that forms between the two of them, she finds that it is becomming increasingly harder.

Gage knows that Brynn has a past, and he wants more from her then he ever expected. But there is something else lurking in the shadows, something that will stop at nothing in obtaining what it wants. Now Brynn has to fight to save her life, her home and the man she loves--or else he wins.

I especially LOVED the characters, what was wonderful about this book is that you literally fall in love with the people. From Gage to Brynn, to Adwen and Malik to Captain Lefont. With a magical story line and incredible romance, I dare any woman to read this book and try not to fall in love with Gage themselves!

wonderful, I always do after reading a great love story. It's one of those books that when you close it once you finished, you sit there and sigh in contentment.

It absolutely wonderful, I would read more of her work like the 'Beloved scoundral' or 'the magnificent rogue,' 'The tiger prince,' ' The golden barbarian,' 'THe wind dancer', 'Storm winds' or even 'reap the winds' But unfortunatly I have not been able to find any of her other books. *sniff*

I recommend this book because its story line is captivating, its characters enchanting, its artisitc allure is undeinably pure genius, and its not too long (only 358 pages) but it is extraordinary, once you pick up the book you will not be able to put it down. I promise you that every second you spend reading this is entirely worth it.

I don't recommend this book if you are into suspense or sci-fi because there is absolutely no sci-fi in it and very little suspense. AS for fantasy, Brynn can do this cool things with her hands, but that's about as abnormal as it gets. It pretty much down to earth, but its one hell of a story.

This was one of the first novels that I ever read, and it was because of this book that I wanted to start writting. I saw the way that the simple word could bring characters to life, congure images in your mind and I was hooked. It is truly a work of art and one of the best books I have ever read ( and believe I have read A LOT since then) and the only other authors I can think of that I enjoyed anywhere near as much as Iris is Nora Roberts. If the two were to pair up, they would be unstoppable. And if anyone out there likes Nora, then you will love Iris!! Even if you only read one of her books, she's great!
