A little girl that had to live within the cultural values of her society. She did not like the strict boundries of her culture and wanted to challenge them. She was not rebellious just curious. She loved certain things about the outside world that she couldn't enjoy because of the fact she was a female.

This girls determination to do something she felt she had a right to do.

That she was so trapped in a society taht didn't understand her needs.

Be proud of women everywhere who have made a difference no matter the age.

Grateful and want to rejoice because I was born in the society and time that I was.

Linda Sue Park did a great thing by writing a young persons book about such a painful subject in a way that young people could relate too.

Everyone needs to learn about the culture and background of others
