Summary of this Book...
This is a little exert from the book, "She ran, tree limbs and brambles scratching, grabbing, tripping, and slapping her as if they were bony hands, reaching for her out of the darkness. The mountainside droppped steeply, and she ran pell-mell, her feet unsure on pine needles and loose stones. She beat at the limbs with flailing arms, looking for the trail, falling over logs, getting up and darting to the left, the the right. A fallen limb caught her ankle, and she fell again. Where was the trail? Blood. She reeked of it. It was hot and sticky between her fingers. it had soaked throught her shirt and splattered on her khaki pants so her clothes clung to her. In her right hand she held a hunting knife in an iron gripp, unaware that the tip of the blade was broken off. She had to make it out of these hills. She knew which way she and Cliff had come and where they'd parked the camper. All she had to do was backtrack. She was crying, praying, and babbling, "Let him go, let him go. Oh Jesus save us... go away, let him go," as she groped her wayalong, stooping under limbs, clambering over more logs, and stooping her way through tangled thickets in the dark. At last she found the trail, a narrow, hoof-trodden route of dirt and stone descending steeply along the hillside, swithch-backing through the tall firs and pines. She followed it carefully, not wanting to get lost again. "Oh, Jesus," she said, "Oh jesus, help me..." Steve Benson's brother Cliff is brutally murdered, it's suspected to be a bear attack. However, it just doesn't fit the description. The people of the town are very quiet about whatever is killing, and will get violent and very frightened when they are asked about it. It brings Steve through a wonderful and frightning adventure.
I especially liked... | ||
The way things are protrayed. The invisivble story reprisents sin. IT gripps you in the beginning with a hook that no one can resist. Frank Peretti's message in this story is "Sin can kill". It's an all around wonderful story
I didn't like... | ||
It's kinda slow in the beginning; but once you get past that, it's very exiting. Hard to put down.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
When I finished this book I just sat there for a little while. It's one of those stories where you're not quite ready for it to be done even if it does have a definite and satisfying ending.
This Book made me feel...
I was scared at times and it really made me think about the sin in my life, without even really mentioning it, even non-christians will like this book, and christians will LOVE it.
The author of this Book...
Frank Peretti is a genious. Two great works of art that he did are "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness". Storys that are similar in representaion yet totally different and lovable story's.
