It is the discworld where men take all the good jobs and woman have to do the degrading jobs. In a far off land a wizard is looking for the 8th son of an 8th son to pass his staff onto. He performs "the passing of the staff" but forgot to check the sex of the baby. So this is the story of the first female wizard and everyones attitude towards Esk, the heroine, who desperatly wants to do magic but when she finds out that she has no chance she still does not give up. | ||
