Summary of this Book...
Jane Eyre is an orphaned girl who has to live with a cruel aunt. Jane wants nothing more than to have friends and family that love her. This is her story as she grows and finds love.
I especially liked... | ||
The friendship between Jane and Helen Burns; very sweet. Also, the beginning of Jane and Rochester's relationship as Master and Governess.
I didn't like... | ||
The attitude of Mrs. Reed and certain aspects of St. John's character. If I say anything more, it would spoil the book.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read more! | ||
This Book made me feel...
Happy ultimately but at times saddened by Jane's plight.
The author of this Book...
Genius. Pure genius. Her mastery at the art of writing is incredible considering that the vast majority of authors in her day were men. Charlotte Brontë originally wrote "Jane Eyre" under the pseudonym Currer Bell.
I recommend this Book because...
It is a classic story of a girl growing into a woman and finding love.
I don't recommend this Book because...
No reason not to. | ||
Further Comments... | ||
I found this book to be surprisingly easy reading considering when it was written (1840s). Those somewhat familar with classical literature should have no trouble understanding it. Also the 80s BBC production starring Timothy Dalton is an excellent movie version of the story.
