This is for the audiobook version, which WdC seems to have a problem accessing. It’s also totally worth it to get the Kindle version if audiobooks aren’t your thing. This is the second-one of one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The first one of the best purchases was the first volume of the series. You get a big chunk of the series, and the narration is spot-on. The series is great, even if it is way over the top ridiculous. A good chunk is slapstick, and the rest is absurd situations that the MC manages to get himself into. But it is all ridiculous in the best way possible, with some of the most likeable characters I’ve ever encountered. I didn’t think I’d find a sometimes-gutter-guffaw series that was so character-driven. Every single one of them of is endearing, including Splurt, who is basically a bowl of green Jell-O. Do with that information as you will, but I’m telling you, he’s one of the best characters out of a cast of outstanding characters. Yes, there’s some Deus Ex Machina stuff that manages to provides convenient ways for the gang to get out of sticky situations, but I don’t care. Hanna Barbara did the same with Scooby-Doo, and you’ll never convince me I’m too old for Scoobs. The books made me laugh at loud in the same way Deadpool does. The situational humor is absurd, but the characters make it believable. And despite my assertation that the comedy can at time be little juvenile, I also assert that this series has some of the smartest, wittiest writing I’ve come across in a comedy series in a long while. Totally worth the read. Enjoy. | ||
