Summary of this Book...
This is third book in the classic "Chronicles of Narnia" series. It's very different from the first two books in the series but it did carry on some things from the first two and featured glimpses into the lives of the children in Narnia from the time near the end of book two. It tells the story of an unusual boy (Shasta) and kidnapped Narnian talking horse (Bree), who meet up with a runaway princess and her talking horse and have a wide variety of wild adventures in getting from their origins to Narnia / where they ended up going. Three of the children from book 2 made appearances and, while some elements were predictable there were also a lot of surprises. I enjoyed it.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like fantasy, young adult, Christian allegory, adventure, intrigue, justice, and/ or just a good story.
I especially liked... | ||
Aslan. So much! Shasta's character and bravery. Bree the horse's humor in teaching Shasta to ride. The contrast between the princesses in the story. The humor. The justice. The imaginative scenes.
I didn't like... | ||
The long (to me.. maybe not to others) narration of what the battle scene was like through the hermit's eyes/pool.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Part of me wanted to start the next one but it was time for bed.
This Book made me feel...
Like I was in on the whole adventure or hearing about it from a beloved relative.

I recommend this Book because...
It was a fun and lively read. The first two books are probably better. But I still enjoyed this greatly.
I don't recommend this Book because...
There is violence and there are some immoral actions, though they are used to show the value of moral ones.
Further Comments... | ||
