Summary of this Book...
From Amazon:
.After two decades of brilliant research on American poverty, Kathryn Edin noticed something she hadn’t seen before — households surviving on virtually no cash income. Edin teamed with Luke Shaefer, an expert on calculating incomes of the poor, to discover that the number of American families living on $2.00 per person, per day, has skyrocketed to one and a half million households, including about three million children.

Where do these families live? How did they get so desperately poor? Through this book’s eye-opening analysis and many compelling profiles, moving and startling answers emerge. $2.00 a Day delivers new evidence and new ideas to our national debate on income inequality.

What it's actually:
First, two self-proclaimed experts spent 20 years talking to people that live below the poverty level. They then exaggerated and stretched those stories to fill a book. Finally, they made a huge profit.

I especially liked...
- I'm glad this book was a free read because it's not worth a penny.

- One of the most amusing parts was quoting an unnamed police department. Apparently, they gave up arresting anyone committing a crime because it would be 95% of the town.
I didn't like...
-There is absolutely nothing in this book to offer an objective perspective on poverty or how we can find a solution. There is no look at the big picture. Yes, poverty is rampant. Now what?
This Book made me feel...
The tales told here are just sad and depressing. Much like the reality of many in America. But there is no hope offered in this book either. That's the saddest part of all.
The n/a of this Book...
The authors of this book failed to show any ideas, new or old, to combat income equality.
