Let me start with the negatives: the editor doesn’t seem to have done a great job. There are numerous typos/grammar issues/adverbs & adjectives. I don’t know whether the typos are more an issue of whomever transferred this to Kindle. It’s possible. Overall, though, it gave the book a fairly unprofessional feeling.

The plot ... there is a major plot twist at 60% through the book. It changes everything, and it meant I was reading a very different story to the one I had previously thought. Honestly, it annoyed me at first. I lost a lot of sympathy for the main character.

The ending, I felt, didn’t have as big an impact as I’d hoped. It kind of fizzled out. Plus, the big scene at the end annoyed me because I kept thinking surely no one is that thick; that slow to catch on. It frustrated me.

I also didn’t feel enough of the plot was resolved fully.

Now, for the good parts: the author does create tension really nicely. A lot of the book has me on the edge of my seat. Also, the big twist ... it did annoy me at first, but it also took the book in a more unique direction. And, you know what? I read until the end. I was interested enough to keep reading (although I did put it down for a couple of days after the plot twist).

So, on the whole. It works as a psychological thriller. It does mess with your mind. But I’ve read better.

People no love twisty psychological thrillers that are quite dark.

The editing. The plot twist. The unbelievable character of Harriet at the end.

Actually, it made me angry a lot of the time. Especially after the twist. The poor editing, or lack of editing in places, made me annoyed as well.

I’m not really sure I do.

There are much better books in this genre that you could read.
