This is an enjoyable psychological thriller/mystery. It didn’t really get tense and exciting until the last third of the book. But when it did, it really did.

I read the Kindle version of this book, and it had quite a lot of mistakes in it. Typos, spellings. I don’t know if it happened as it was converted to Kindle, or if the novel was poorly edited in the first place.

The story of of a young woman, Emily, whose sister has been missing for just over a year. Emily has just started a new job as a nurse at a private hospital. Just before she starts, she has routine minor surgery, but what she witnesses while recovering in bed will change her life forever. I like the story. It’s good. Just, not great. It doesn’t seem to be massively original. Or, maybe it is, but the writing is a little flat so it’s hard to tell. I don’t know. The last third of the book is much better than the first two.

I loved the setting of the book because it is Bath. I live close to there nd know the city quite well, so it was nice to be able to picture the places well.

Overall, a quick, enjoyable read. It’s good, but don’t expect fireworks.

The writing doesn’t have a lot of flair. It’s a little bland. I got bored and considered giving up on this by about half way through. I’m glad I persevered, though.

I don’t know much about her, other than I think she’s published one other book. Her writing doesn’t seem polished. I would question her editor.
