Summary of this DVD... | ||
I think I would have liked this Sherlock Holmes adventure tale better if I had not seen the TV series first. This one is set in olden days, but it is fast paced and the dialogue is self-consciously clever. I found it hard to follow at times, but Robert Downey, Jr., is very cute and engaging as Holmes. I am not a big fan of Jude Law's performance. In this one a murderer is put to death only to come back to life and do evil things. The story is complicated by the fact that Dr. Watson pronounced the man dead.

I like the TV series, which is set in modern times, much better than this movie. I think I might have enjoyed the movie more if I had seen it before the TV show (the one on PBS currently). The fast paced action goes more with the modern setting of the current one. It was hard to understand some of the dialogue - I felt the direction was kind of jerky and manic.
