Summary of this Book...
Post-apocalyptic dystopia meets young adult fiction. I've been waiting for a book like this! Katniss Everdeen finds herself in a terrible position. For years, the evil controlling government, The Capitol, has been forcing each District to offer up two children to fight to the death with other District tributes. Katniss' little sister is chosen, but Katniss quickly offers herself instead. Together with her teammate, Peeta, she will fight against other chosen children, and all of Panem watches on a reality-type television show.
This type of Book is good for...
Fans of dystopian fiction will appreciate the politics involved in the book. Young adult readers will surely enjoy the love triangle between Katniss, Peeta and Gale.
I especially liked... | ||
Personally, I loved the politics of the book (and lucky for me, it only intensifies throughout the series). I really think this is meant for more than young adult readers. Some adults may have a hard time reading about children who fight to the death.
I didn't like... | ||
The love story got a bit contrived for me, but maybe that's just me.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read the next in the series!
I recommend this Book because...
it's the "next big thing" in young adult fiction/film, but it's actually kind of good. You'll probably like it.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Again, some people may have a hard time reading about violence with children. Yes, children die, by other children's hands. This isn't a "happily ever after" story.
