The username Pepys seemed apt because I've written a daily journal my whole life, and I've also a passion for reading other people's published journals and letters. They give you a privileged glimpse into people's lives, plus they provide invaluable source material for writers like me who set some of their fiction in the past. I write purely for pleasure. I'm lazy, undisciplined and unfocused. I also have a grasshopper mind, so I'm always abandoning projects half way through. My sole aim and ambition as a writer is to be able to say 'I finally finished a whole book!'
