A Stunning Revelation

I hate the way I feel, with every breath I take.
I feel that I am nothing, just one big mistake;
An embarrassment to my family, a burden to my friends;
A pretty face to strangers, a soul that's left to cleanse.

But none of you really know me, you've never had the chance;
You never got to know me, you just judged me by a glance.
I'm not what you think, just so you know, for those who have assumed;
While evil haunts me everyday, my soul is not consumed.

You say I must be saved, that I can't live without His love,
But who are you to tell me I need guidance from above?
You stay inside your Christian shell until you think a soul's in need.
You're of no help to those like me, for you can't see the life, for Him, I lead.

You see me as a prize for which you wish to win.
You see my physical beauty, but you do not see within.
You underestimate my intelligence, and make me feel weak,
And when I wish to talk, you bid me not to speak.

Behind my back you talk, but to my face you are my friend.
It seems as though the pain you bring will never see an end.
I love you with all my heart, but you do not feel the same.
To me, our friendship is everything; to you, it's just a game.

To you I'm just a failure, nothing's ever good enough.
You tear me up inside, but it's ok ‘cause "life is tough".
I feel that I must please you, with everything I do.
I feel our internal struggle, but to myself I must be true.

The world may never know me, and that's just fine with me.
I'm secure with who I am, and from your pain I am now free.
So you can keep all your gossip, and all the hurtful things you say.
Judge me all you want, but in the end you'll be the one who has to pay...
