Insomnia

Daunting, persistent and relentless,
Shadowy, uncomfortable and mysterious,
Turbulent, seemingly unexplainable,
Provoking uncommon thoughts,
Anger is fuel for the malady,
Becoming increasingly negative,
Even prayer can’t bring relief,
Staring at the black, the gray, then the blue,
Surrender is the only respite,
Rise and face the demons if they be the foil,
Perhaps turning the page will tell a new tale,
If not you’ve been there before,
Surely experience brings you closer to relief,
Can exhaustion be the cure,
Glassed eyes close again to see the speckled darkness,
Daunting, persistent and relentless.
