childrens' story that has my nephew as the inspiration! |
"Christopher, better hold on tight! These winds are heavy, and you're so light! Hold tight to Aunt Kathy and Mom. Oh my! These are March winds that make little boys fly! So I try my best to be big and strong; But I'm only six; so it isn't long Till my sneakers are leaving the ground And my body is upward bound! My Aunt Kathy carries weird things.. Doorknobs, shoe horns and kite strings. She whips out the string and a piece of felt.. And attaches me through a loop in my belt. And now the wind is taking me high Into a puffy cloud filled sky! I'm floating high above the street With bare tree tops under my feet! I'm looking around, and I can see This bird is looking back at me! Wondering where I keep my wings? Hey, is that my song he sings? There's another kid! I'm not alone! He's attached to the cord from a phone! And that little girl on top that pine Is held fast by her Mom's clothesline! We roll in clouds as soft as clover Playing hide and seek, then red rover Finally! I get a turn and win!! Then we see the dark clouds blowing in. I feel Aunt Kathy pull: No wonder! Here comes the cold rain and the thunder! And I'm brought down with a final tug.. Mommy gives me a big kiss and hug. "Well, my birdie, how was the flight? Did you like being Aunt Kathy's kite?" "I sure did!" I look up and smile! I must have been up at least a mile!!! Aunt Kathy says "That's it for today, I'm not ready to have you fly away... Into a wild blue spring sky 'Cause these March winds make little boys fly! |
