Umber, Red and golden leaflets
fall so gently from the trees,
announcing that September
has arrived unto the breeze.
There's the crunch of little child-size feet
through crispy leaves piled high.
There's no biting cold, nor excess heat
'though warm wool sweaters are standing by.
There are harried parents watching with glee
as their scholars head back to school
No more lazing dreamyily
and splashing in the neighbours pool.
Like clockwork the seasons subtly shift
with signs of Autumn all around.
September, a fresh and treasured gift
whose dew-sweet mornings soon abound.
