What Would You Do?



What would you do, if you knew
All the facts behind the case?
What would you want them to do
If you were in her place?



Would you take a stand,
Lend a helping hand?
Would you sit back and wait,
Would you even hesitate?



Doesn't anyone care
About this whole affair?
Will we just let her die
While her relatives cry?



What has she done wrong?
She will have to be strong
While we make up our minds.
Are we really that blind?



That poor girl is alive
And continues to strive.
Can't we just let her live?
Have we not enough to give?



It is my fear that the hour will come
When we ask ourselves what we have done.
Did we not have enough love to spare
Or were there not enough people aware?



We will look back on this as a murder
When we could have saved her with fervor.
She wasn't hurting anyone, unlike some,
But nevertheless the atrocity is done.



So what do we tell our children now?
That we could have saved her but didn't know how?
We had all the necessary resources at hand.
It's a pity to me; I don't understand.



It's been fifteen years already
And all this time she has been steady.
So why is her right to life being denied?
It is my opinion that her husband lied.



Besides, nothing was ever written down.
No proof of her words can ever be found.
Now she can't speak in her own defense.
Are her parents the only ones with any sense?



Our motto used to be "Live and let live"
Is this wealthy country too poor to give?
It seems now our motto is "Live and let die!"
We starve Terri Schaivo and not many of us cry.
