Perceptions from another species. |
Cat’s Eye The endless currents draw me along On softest rolling silent steps, Audible only as an idea of movement, By those who would not be seen; My green crystal lens with lens imposed Collects those movements that interest, And cuts the running or the motionless to blurs if caught With claws and teeth like torn metal. Within this diamond cranium Are the whispers of relations Who once seduced Pharaohs, We brought our ancient horizons Newly wrapped as gifts from their Gods; We placed our perfect senses Within the needs of man And were placed insecurely above the common. Curved petals, my ears Move to the winds of subtle sounds Tuned to the tiny heartbeats that flicker like light, Conduits to my continuity; The endless chore of this work Dismissed with a flick, Or hunting down my prey With the swiftest of endless mobility. Paintbrush strokes in long cared fur, I lick and clean my cloak To muse and deceive once all is done; In the warmth of the sun I see all. One paw draped in nature’s purest world One among man’s awkward spires, No one’s friend or foe; Just the shape of all desires. |
