PADDY'S IRISH GRILL I was on a tour of Ireland a few years back, a typical tourist with a camera in my sack. Our bus stopped in a little town called Kildare and I got off to see the sights, right there. A corner tavern caught my eye right away for it advertised Leprechauns at play - Shamrocks covered most of the windowpane, but the lettering there was really plain. "PADDY'S IRISH GRILL" the sign boasted; "Come in, sit down and you'll be toasted!" I opened up the green door and went in and the folks all treated me just like kin! Soon I was singing an old Irish ditty, after a few rounds I was feeling pretty! A young lass danced for me an Irish jig, then I looked around and my eyes got big.. For seated on the bar was a little man dressed all in green and I thought "I can catch that Leprechaun and get three wishes; a pot of gold and some crystal dishes" - I made a grab for him but he was quick, Thinking back, he was pretty slick! He seemed to disappear right into thin air, I looked around but there was nothing there. The bus driver tooted the horn to go; I had to leave Paddy's Irish Grill and so I'll never know if it was really true or not, I never saw the gold he had in that pot. Back on the bus, I turned around to see That wee little Leprechaun laughing at me! I waved goodbye and he gave a little nod, as if to invite me back to his Irish sod. So if you go to Ireland and you should - Remember that Paddy's Irish Grill is good; and if you see my friend, the Leprechaun, Tell him I'll be back - before too long! Countrymom 2/20/05 |
