Have you ever had to say goodbye to a loved one?
What will you do now?
Go home to your family, friends and old habits?
Will you forget about me?
What am I to do now?
Go on with my mundane life?
Try to fill the void you'll be leaving behind?
Remind myself that this isn't your home even though it feels like it is?
To say you will be missed doesn't convey much of a loss I will experience.
So let me hold you for the last time.
I will close the lids of my eyes so you don't see them brim with tears. With one last bitter sweet taste of your lips you walk away. I try to be strong, but each step you take seems to echo in my mind. Tears begin to slide down my cheek leaving behind salty trails. No matter what happens please, rest assured that you have a home in Minnesota and occupy a special place in my heart.
