She stands alone, both strong and true,
The perfect picture of solitude.
The others will laugh, at the games they play,
While alone she faces the passing day.
But she'll never join them, on the grass,
She can only stand, and watch them pass.
The wind and weather cuts her deep,
But she never seems to fall, or weep.
Life can beat her, and give it's all,
But in the end, she still stands tall.
Most gave up, but no, not she,
So there she stands, for us all to see.
Life may throw punches, and she may take a blow,
But in the end, she too shall grow.
Like her, I too, know grief and pain,
I've faced the wind; I've felt the rain.
We're a lot alike, the willow and I,
Life may beat us, but we'll never die.
The willow and I, we know what to do,
We stick by ourselves and we make it through.
What our lives shall hold, we know not at all;
But in the end, we will not fall.
