a little poem about rain
when i was a child
i liked to pretend
God was crying
when it rained.

but He probably IS up there
crying,
tired of trying,
tired of being a man;
wondering why His
eternal wisdom
doesn't keep us from dying.

down here we dance in the rain;
we stay home and watch movies;
we catch His tears on our tongues.

and God watches from His back porch;
watches the infinite tragedy He has
written--
God watches us, in tears,
and He whispers a prayer for us,

which falls to the ground
in a thousand tiny wet pieces.
