They write, but can they sell? |
THE AUTHORS There has to be some inclination To sit down and write a book; And then a bit of real persuasion To have someone stop and take a look. We put our hearts and souls therein And perhaps the world will see That those words are pretty special At least to you - and me. We gather all our very best And take them to a printer, It comes back, fresh and clean; Maybe it will sell - by winter! We've got a fine collection Of books to offer to the masses; The print is very legible, You hardly need your glasses! To see our names as the authors Makes us feel a little funny, We want to be remembered but It would be nice if we had money. I guess it pays to advertise, My co-author is doing very well; And as soon as I get started There's a few that I can sell. Self-publishing is a lot of work And costs a good bit of cash, But we write a lot of good stuff - It's sure not a bunch of trash! So if you see the authors And you take the time to read; Then buy the book to read again That's all we really need! Love, Julie was the first one, Followed fast by Flying Free; Then came "A Long Road Home" For veterans like Monty and me. We may never make the best seller list But we've given it a shot - And that, my friend, takes courage - You can buy the book - or not. The authors who write here online May all have the same dream, For this is where it all began After Love, Julie was first seen. God bless the authors who try to do The work that will be treasured; And if the work comes from the heart It really can't be measured! Countrymom "I write, therefore - I am" |
