A collection of Poems some as old as middle school
Here I sit at the bar
I’ve never really been alone before
Song after song
I sip the same drink
Night after night
I cry myself to sleep

I go out by myself
If I even bother to leave the house
I drive down the road
With no place to go
My phone doesn’t ring
I have no one to call

How could I be so gullible
I thought you were my best friend
Imagine my shock
When I discovered I had been wrong all along
*************************************

My heart aches
But you don’t care
Tears fall
My eyes stay blurred
But you don’t give a damn
Way back when
You were so sly
The cruelest of the cruel
You’re the type who Attacks by surprise
You seem so perfect
Just like a dream come true
When you finally swing your first blow
My guards down
My hearts gone
You’re completely in control
At least with most jerks
It’s your choice to let your heart get broken
Not destroyed from the inside
By a modern day Benedict Arnold
Someone I first thought of as a friend
Then when wasn’t looking
Slipped and feel in love with
The one who broke my heart in two
You
*************************************
Well, you’re a friend
That’s something even you can’t deny
Although sometimes I think you’d like to try
The Lord only knows why

In the beginning we weren’t very smart
We tried to look away from our hearts
Promises were made
That very same day
Eventually we knew they’d be broken

How foolish can two people be
To shut their eyes purposefully
No matter how good your intentions
You can’t stop what’s meant to be
**********************************

For You
For you
My tears still fall
My nights remain long never calm
Three kisses we shared
My mouth still aches
My body trembles
My mind can’t concentrate
For you
My dreams will always be
Locked in what only my heart can see
*************************************

She Knew
After all these years
She’s through with the tears
The heartache, the pain
He won’t be causing again
She had mended her heart
With tape and glue
But nothing could withstand
The final blow he threw
She picked up the pieces
That once were her heart
Before she begin putting them together
She knew
Some were too shattered
Others were gone
But at least she could go on
Before she started
She knew
He would never notice
And there was no way
He could ever understand
How could he
He never gave a damn
**********************

I called to say I’m sorry
But my whole world blew up in smoke
My life was shattered
My soul set free
Like a bird it was thrown
And told to fly or die
But I’m not a bird
You were my wings
So I crashed without a song to sing
You were right when you said it was over
I’ll never be the same
You were there for me
And I for you
Only now I know the truth
A foolish heart
A foolish girl
A lying heart with no soul
A make-believe friendship
In which I depended too much
The lessons learned
And all is done
The song I had to sing
Was never sung
******************************

Tears fall
Hearts get broken
Dreams die
Just like you and I
Once-upon-a time
Exists only in fairy tales
Forever hereon after’s
Mean nothing anymore
I used to be Cinderella
You were my Prince Charming
But the second I moved into the palace
I knew my stepmother
Wasn’t the evil one at all
I kissed a man I thought was a prince
He gave me warts instead
Now I know I’m Cinderella
And you are my prince charming
But now you’ve come
And your scars will always haunt me
People told you lies
Their damage destroyed us completely
A tornado struck
But while the castle remains in one piece
My heart’s shattered on the floor
I refilled the moat
After the drought dried it up
You stood and laughed
As you watched my tear drops fall
Your cruelty dismays me
Because the man I love
Betrayed me
************************************

I stay up half the night
Trying to wait for daylight
Dreams I avoid
With sad songs I sing along
Tears on my pillow
Cried in vain
Stand at attention
To solute you
The taste of your kisses still lingers
With the morning light I awake
My lips bruised
But only with heart-ache
If I were to loose you
My heart cold recover
But with hands of steal
Holding strong
With an iron grip
You will always claim me
A love living long
Never given the chance to crash and burn
You and me together forever will always be
Heart and soul intertwined
Apart forever
Yet always together
****************************

The Match
One by one we enter the rink
The announcer introduces us
Starting with you
The crowd goes wild
You’re the champ
I now know my heart
Never stood a chance
The crowd quiets down
The announcer calls my name
I step towards the middle
Like a trusting animal
About to be slaughtered
With trusting child-like eyes
I look into yours
My heart stops
I fall in love
You lead me for a while
Then when I trust you completely
You swing the final blow
As I draw my last breath
I hear the announcer make the call
The crowd cheers
I look up at you
My innocence so pure
I see your triumphant smile
And with my last breath
I whisper
I love you
*********************************

She watched her dreams go up in smoke
She lit the match
Then threw in a torch
She added some gasoline to make the
Flames grow higher
Warmed by the tears trapped inside her

Happiness was by no means in her reach
But to close to her grasp for comfort or peace
The spirits from above
“Tisk Tisked” at the sight
For the child they watched grow up in
Such sorrow
Was now a woman
Whose destiny had sealed her fate

One night she saw the end and he
Wasn’t beside her
What was to be
Came in the form of a dream
To the one she loved and thought she knew
The truth was told
As she watched on
Her hope joined hands with her dreams

They moved on
Now they’re gone
The man she loved, her hope, heart and dreams
******************************************

Little Bo-Peep
Once-upon-a time
She thought he cared
But when she needed him
He wasn’t there
Her nursery rhymes started
Ending wrong
When it was over
There were no sheep
So Little Bo-Peep
Cried herself to sleep

He was the only one she ever needed
The devil himself
But she wouldn’t believe it
He cast his spell right from the start
Her heart was his to torture
There never was any doubt

She called and called
There was no answer
He had driven her crazy
So she gave up
She stopped to say good-bye
And found her sheep grazing
Now Little Bo-Peep can go to sleep
