A true child's delight for your holiday meal
Homemade Cranberry Relish

I’m not much of a cook, but I do know what tastes good. Like marinating your pork ribs in Colt 45 Stout Malt Liquor, or using Jack Daniels in your barbecue sauce, but for the holidays, I’ve always had an all time favorite -- homemade cranberry relish.

Some years ago we stopped serving normal cranberry relish at holiday meals. By “normal” I mean that jellied stuff you buy in a can. It is so simple to make your own, and my kids love it. In fact, we let them prepare it themselves!

1 pound (4 cups) fresh cranberries

2 oranges

1 big red apple

2 cups of sugar

Wash the cranberries and chop them up in a food processor. I much prefer to grind them to make sure you don’t miss any whole berries. Peel the oranges (remove any seeds) and run them through the grinder along with the apple slices. Mix together with sugar and let stand for a couple of hours.

If you couldn’t get your kids to eat cranberry relish before, wait until they taste this treat. It’s absolutely scrumptious!
