Good Gal of the Day award to Linda, Jan. 30, 1967 |

This certificate was awarded to Linda on January 30, 1967 by her favorite Rock and Roll station here, WSAI. They recognized local citizens for their civic contributions, humanitarian efforts, and the like. At a time when we couldn't see each other thanks to my parents, I wrote the station, detailing how she always helped others whenever they would give her a chance, and how she'd handled herself with all she'd been through. I'd hoped they would do this but I hadn't counted on it with all the others they were considering at any given time, and they only gave out one each day. I wanted this to surprise her and boost her spirits while we were apart, and they didn't let me down. It was given to her during one of her high school classes, so the kids that had been teasing her all those years finally had to shut up for once. That was even better. THANK YOU, WSAI Good Guys and Gals for caring enough about the ordinary person to do this. Something this simple meant the world to her, and I thank you! |
