..will keep me from writing - |
NEITHER RAIN NOR SNOW Neither rain nor snow will keep me from writing About everyday life and the wars we are fighting; I happen to honor my country and home, And if I just quit writing I'd sit alone Wondering why history in the making Left to the uncaring, or those just waking Up to the fact that what we know now May all change, and be lost somehow. So I put down my thoughts when I pick up my pen, And write of the things happening, and then File them away, for my children and theirs Who may one day read about all our cares. Important things happen in the world everyday; Soon are forgotten, that's just the way. So I pull on my boots and go out in the snow Look at the world, and just so you know That the difference between us, just you and me, Is that I choose to create a written memory. If generations past had written it down, History would not be dull, a real live town Would spring back to life as it was then, Ancestors would talk of the past once again; And we would listen, and perhaps we'd see That life is unfolding as it ought to be. So in rain or in snow, memories I gather, I can't be stopped by any bad weather; It may make a difference and then it may not, But given the chance, what an education I got! Countrymom 4/03/03 |
