a drunk father attempting to teach the word of god does not equal a happy child.
You were supposed to be my light
The one thing that would always stand strong
My father, the one that never dies and never lies
You must have forgotten all the promises you made
It must have slipped your mind a million times
I know you’re busy filling your drink
I just wanted to ask...
Are you really happy?
Everyone watching you is wondering
We all want to know if it’s worth it
Living a life of lies and hypocrisy
Going to great lengths to prove you’re right
Only proving you are going under faster
Than any of us wanted to believe.

Confusion turns to anger and anger to hatred
Something the devil can use against me
You’ve told me a thousand times what ‘He’ leads to
Nothing that I want in my life, MY LIFE!
There’s always an easy way out
Only the easy way leads to sin
The hard way leads to the Lord
Tell this to a child and see what happens
Tell a child it belongs to God and wait...
She will figure out the lies
Behind everything you said
She is more aware of what is happening that you think.

You still think you’ve done well
You’ve done what God wants you to do
If I did believe in your God I would hate him
Just as I hate you
Held together by a common enemy
You can walk with him forever
In fields of blood and booze
Just think of all the things He’ll tell you
All the wisdom he will share
He’ll tell you what you want to hear
That you were right all along
That no one understands the truth
And you will find yourself alone
