A poem about a night I'd sooner forget, a fancy dress party.
I remember when Rock was young...
Hold on now, no that’s been done.
It was a party on Valentine’s night,
Fancy dress, we looked such a sight.

Cocktails were to be our disguise,
We wanted to win the first prize.
But nothing was going quite right,
I’d lost my cherry, imagine my plight.

We searched for another red balloon,
The party was going to be starting soon,
We were quickly running out of time,
When Jane realized she’d broken her lime.

During the judging we wanted to hide.
First up were Bonnie And Clyde,
Our hopes felt the finger of doom,
As we gazed at the store-bought costumes.

It seemed that our fate was set,
As up got Romeo and Juliet,
He in a doublet and hose,
Her in a gown of the deepest rose.

Nervously we climbed on the platform,
The crowd kicked off a storm,
The cheers were as loud as they could be,
The crowd were cheering for Jane and for me.

They loved the thought and design,
A balloon for a cherry and card for a lime,
With transparent plastic to represent a glass,
And short little dresses right up to our …

As I was telling you before,
The crowd was yelling out for more.
We knew then we couldn’t fail,
The prize was ours to hold,
Who’d have thought two girls so bold?
Dressed as A Long Slow Screw and a Rusty Nail.
