AT THE END OF ME RAINBOW With a wee bit of Irish blood in me veins I took a trip across the sea to Ireland; The going was fine and I took me time To visit the old country so grand! I'd heard many tales of the pot o'gold That was waiting at the rainbows' end, And I knew in me heart I'd find one meself For the rainbow was just 'round the bend! I followed that rainbow o'er hill and dale; It seemed like it would fade from view - I kept travelin' on, and singin' a song That the leprechauns might like a bit, too! Sure'n there was a sighting of them in the glen A-dancin' along to me tune with glee; I stopped to chat, then waved me' green hat As they hollered their blessin' to me! They wished I would find all I craved At the end of me rainbow someday; With a skip and a smile I went another mile And soon found the rainbow fadin' away! But I had reached the end, I tell ye, me friend That I gasped when I saw that black pot! For there was no gold, only a bold Man that I'd thought I'd forgot! Now some may seek gold, and some may seek fame; But true love's the greatest treasure of all! At the end of me rainbow I found all I need, A good man who will come when I call. At the end of yer rainbow I'm hopin' you find What may be the desire of yer heart; As for me I will stay on Erin's green isle; With the man who has captured me heart! |
