Now would you fancy that my granddaughter's cat
Was given the name of Jewel;
Just a stray kitten with whom we were smitten;
Whose actions were increasingly cool!
She'd run and play throughout the day,
Her food was the most awesome cost;
She'd eat like a horse but then of course
We'd miss her if she ever got lost!
One day she got out and wandered about,
We looked all around for this cat!
My little lost Jewel was nobody's fool;
On the top of the stairway she sat.
With a grin on her face, she seemed out of place
On the "Wanted" poster we printed up!
With a purr and a flounce, a hiss and a bounce
She came back in the house for a cup.
We fed her quite well, anyone could tell
That her appetite had never been lost!
My dear little Jewel, so good as a rule;
Just didn't like to be bossed!
Jewel goes where she wants, and constantly taunts
Her mistress and her old grandmother;
But we wouldn't trade or otherwise be made
To give up our cat for another!
