A poem about a desperate man, and an innocent child who saves him.
A Message from God

A lonely man went out one night,
He had a plan to end his life,
He walked through streets marked with fear,
Where death would nary draw a tear,
Past a place where terror reigned,
Through a park where lives were claimed.
He saw a school with armed guard,
Fore where he lived hearts were hard.
He closed his eyes, but heard the sounds,
Of bullets song, and battle rounds,
He smelled the smoke in the hazy air,
And putrid rot, horrid and bare,
As he walked on, with new found haste,
He saw a corpse, pale as paste,
He was ready to leave this cold cruel world,
Where rulers lied and children killed,
He saw no joy, no light, no peace,
He could no longer stand this horrid place,
He walked to a bridge, over darkened water,
The river was brown, more oozing than flowing ,yet he did not falter,
He stepped near the edge, ready to fall,
Yet something he saw caused him to stall.
There was one small child, gentle and young,
That danced by the stream, she smiled, and she sung.
He saw her alone, one spot of bright light.
He had to know how she had escaped from the blight,
How could she ignore the death all around?
How could she sing, when naught but gloom did abound?
He came to her slowly, timid and shy,
He sat, and he watched her, then he asked "Why?"
"Why do you dance, and frolic about?"
"Can't you see the pain, and hear the shouts?"
She stopped in her twirling, and looked in his face,
Then answered him truly, from some far down place,
"I hear the screams, and I feel the pain,
"I know of sorrow, and have felt its drain,"
"I know how life can seem like Hell,"
"And I also know that our race fell."
The man fell silent, and pondered a minute,
He thought of her words, a message so potent,
He thought a bit more, and asked her again,
"But you are so small! And the world so grim!"
"How can you live, so true, so alone,"
"In this world that violence does condone?"
She looked at him again and thought,
Then responded in words, that were God wrought,
"Never am I, ever alone!"
"In this place, so violence prone,"
"I live in my Lord, and serve his accord"
"I never am lonely, and never am bored,"
"For all of my needs, my Father provides,"
"From heaven above where he plainly abides,:
"The Creator has mercy, and love purely flows"
"From Him above to us here below,"
"He loves us so much, though we sin and break rules,"
"He still cares enough, to make us his tools,"
"He, alone, is good and great,"
"He alone, can truly create,"
"The King of All Heaven, is also a lamb,"
"He came to heal us, He came as a man,"
"He came long ago and his name was well known"
"They called Him Jesus Christ, Anointed One."
"He came for us, all strife to cure,"
"He, alone, was born, of a virgin pure,"
"He lived a life so spotless and clean,"
"That we as mortals could dare to dream,"
"To dream of life beyond this Earth,"
"To trust in His power, so strong from birth,"
"We know that He loves us, the Emanuel,"
"We know God is with us, and his wonders we tell,"
"His heart alone, has never known sin,"
"For God knows us all, outside and in,"
"His heart was pure, and spotless as snow,"
"He alone, death need not know,"
"Fore the price of sin is death,"
"And all sinners must cease to draw breath,"
"But He chose to die,"
"and in death he did lie,"
"For three days He was dead,"
"His body he gave, to be our bread,"
"On the third day, after He died on a cross,"
"After He was lain in a tomb, covered with moss,"
"His body was gone, He had arisen!"
"His death set us free, from our sin-made prison!"
"He made a choice, to save our souls!"
"He could have lived, and left us for fools,"
"But He loved us so much, He died for our sake,"
"He is The One, there can be no fake,"
"He is The Path, to eternal joy,"
"He is the One, whom all angels obey,"
"This is the reason I live in such light,"
"This is how I have survived the bright."
the man sat stunned at the revelation,
This was the first he had heard of the Lord of all Nations,
The man stared at the ground and wept.
He wept for all the evil hearts kept,
He wept for the joy he hadn't seen,
He wept for the person he hadn't been,
He cried and he moaned 'till he was all out of tears,
Then he straightened his back, and saw new things appear,
A weed by the stream, now was a flower,
The ceaseless cold rain, became a friendly spring shower,
He looked in the sky, and saw a bird over head,
He turned to the sun rise, a beautiful red,
Then he looked back at the girl,
A little angel, unique as a pearl,
He matched her smile, and went on to laugh,
He saw all the sorrowful, and rejoiced on their behalf,
He had finally found the object of his quest,
He had found a reason to live, and felt himself blessed,
"Come, little one, you were right all along!"
"Teach me your ways, teach me your song!"
The child went up and to hold of his hand,
She taught him a way to understand,
"Now The Prince of Peace will provide for you too!"
"You needed me, and I needed you!"
