Oh, let's pick on the little one! |
THE LITTLE ONE "Oh, let's pick on the little one!" He's just a kid, and it is fun To see him held down and getting mad And laugh at him, until he's sad When he fights back, you wonder why, Such a little one should just cry. You must be proud of what you've done; Taking advantage of the little one. He tries so hard to make you laugh Anything to get approval and attention - When just a little consideration Would help so much more, not to mention That if you treated him a little fairer And gave him a chance to grow - To be proud of himself, what he can do To give the love he craves so. Think about it, now and then - If you were the little one again Would you like it if it was you Being treated like a worthless shoe? Now I'm just a Gram, but I can see That harm to him is being done; It wouldn't hurt to just respect The life of this child, how far he's come. He won't always be a little boy, What he remembers of you is the ploy To degrade and make fun of him, When he was little and couldn't win. I may be old and out of touch, But I don't like it very much. The hurt goes deep and may not show But deep in my heart - I know That a little spirit pays the cost Of all the times he's tried and lost So better to think once again - It's time the little one should win.
